California Proposition 65

What is Proposition 65?

In 1986 California voters approved The Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act (Proposition 65). Its goal was to protect drinking water sources and consumer goods from toxic substances that may cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm. Prop 65 requires that consumer goods that contain certain amounts of chemicals that are deemed as harmful be adequately labeled in order to warn consumers before exposure.

Why am I seeing this warning?

Some product packaging used and sold by Shavel Home Products can expose you to chemicals including di(2-ethylhexyl phthalate) (DEHP), which is known to the State of California to cause cancer. It is the responsibility of Shavel Home Products to warn its customers that some products sold on this e-commerce site contain chemicals that are known to the State of California to cause cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm.

When you place an order on Shavel.com, a Prop 65 warning will be displayed for items with packaging that contains chemicals that are required by the State of California to include a warning. The warning will also be included in the confirmation email that is sent after purchase. If you do not see a Prop 65 warning upon check out, this indicates that the product is 100% compliant with Prop 65.
